Catalan Youth Agency - Art Jove Curadoria

What you get

You receive a one-off grant of 3,600 EUR to run one curatorial project over a year at Sala d'Art Jove in Barcelona. The grant comes from the Catalan Youth Agency (Agència Catalana de la Joventut) of the Generalitat de Catalunya. As the chosen curator, you plan and lead the training, support and public presentation of the 18 artistic projects picked in the parallel Art Jove Creació call. You guide them through research, production and showing their work to the public. Only 1 curator is funded each year. You can combine the grant with other paid work and with other support for the same project.

Who can apply

• Who you are: You apply on your own or as a group of up to 5 people interested in curating.
• Age: You are 18 to 35 years old when you apply. In a group, no member can be under 18 at sign-up.
• Where you live: You are registered as a resident in Catalonia. In a group, at least half the members must meet the age and residence rules.
• Nationality and studies: Any nationality and any education level can apply; only your residence in Catalonia counts.
• One call only: You cannot apply if you were selected in the Art Jove Creació call for the same year.
• Experience: Previous curatorial work (curating, mediation, running spaces) raises your score but is not required.

How to apply

You apply online through the Generalitat de Catalunya's procedures portal (tramits.gencat.cat). You submit a project dossier of up to 10 pages that must be built around the 18 selected Art Jove Creació projects. For the 2025 round the deadline was 26 February 2025 at 15:00. An independent jury and the Sala d'Art Jove management team pick the single winning project from the documents. There are no interviews.

How realistic are your chances?

This is a single award for a narrow group: young curators living in Catalonia who can design a plan that fits the 18 Art Jove Creació projects. That keeps the applicant pool small, but only one project is chosen, so a strong, well-matched proposal matters. Most of the score (40 out of 100) rests on how well your method and schedule connect to those artistic projects, so tailoring your dossier to them is what sets you apart.
