José María Cervelló Scholarship

You will receive a reduction of your master's tuition fees at the IE Law School in Madrid. This scholarship usually covers between 10% and 40% of your tuition fees. The exact amount depends on your financial circumstances. It funds a Master’s degree in law or tax law, such as the Master of Laws (LL.M.). The funding comes from the José María Cervelló Chair, which was established in 2004 to enable students with good grades but limited financial means to study law at IE.

Who can apply

• Degree level: You are applying for a Master’s programme at IE University.
• Field of study: You are studying law or tax law at IE Law School, for example as part of an LL.M. programme.
• Where you study: The degree programme is offered at IE University in Madrid, Spain.
• Grades: You have an excellent academic record.
• Financial need: You are unable to cover the full cost of your studies yourself and can provide evidence of your income. If you are financially dependent on your parents or legal guardians, they must also provide evidence of their income.
• Nationality: Open to all nationalities.

How to apply

First, apply for admission to your chosen Master’s programme. Then, using the same login details, submit an application for financial support via the IE online platform. The deadline is 31 May. Applications are assessed in the order in which they are received; you should therefore apply as early as possible, as funding is limited. The IE Funding Committee will make its decision within one to three weeks of your admission.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is aimed at a specific target group: Master’s students studying law and taxation at a university in Madrid who can demonstrate both excellent academic results and a demonstrable financial need. This narrows down the pool of applicants. However, as funds are limited and scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, it is advisable to apply early. If you meet the law specialisation requirement and can demonstrate your financial need, your chances are good. Meeting the minimum criteria alone does not, however, guarantee that your application will be approved.
