About this scholarship

UAL Social Scholarship (Ayuda Social)

You will receive a one-off payment of up to 700 EUR for the academic year. You will also receive a tuition waiver, which covers the fees for your first academic achievements, after any other reductions have already been taken into account. The exact amount depends on your academic, financial and family circumstances. The University of Almería (UAL) in Spain awards this grant to undergraduate students in financial difficulty who are making good progress in their studies.

Who can apply

  • Degree level: You are enrolled as a full-time student on an official Bachelor’s degree programme (Grado) at the University of Almería for this academic year.
  • No higher degree: You do not yet hold a qualification at the same level or a higher level than the one you are currently studying for.
  • Field of study: Anyone interested is welcome to apply.
  • Nationality: All nationals are eligible to apply. If you are from abroad, you must have been lawfully resident in Spain since 31 December 2024.
  • Financial need: Your family’s income is below the national income threshold for student grants in Spain 2 (Umbral 2), which also applies to the grant from the Federal Ministry.
  • Not on the national grant: You will not receive a grant from the Federal Ministry (MEFPD). If you meet the academic requirements for this grant, please apply for it instead.
  • Grades: You have achieved a specified percentage of your credit points, which, depending on your degree programme, ranges from approximately 55 to 65 per cent. This threshold is lower than that for the university’s other scholarships.
  • Family situation: You are in a particular social or family situation, for example, you are a single parent, you are an orphan, you have a family member with a disability, you have refugee status, or you are a victim of violence.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the university’s ‘Campus Virtual’ portal in the ‘Student Services’ section (Beca UAL). You can apply for 2025-2026 from 17 January to 17 February 2026. Selection is made on a competitive basis and is based on the documents you submit. There will be no interview.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is aimed at a limited group of people. You must be studying at a specific university, not exceed a set income limit, and be in a specific social or family situation. Consequently, fewer people are eligible than for open scholarships. The number of scholarships awarded depends on the budget and the number of eligible applicants. If you clearly meet the criteria regarding income, grades and family circumstances and can provide evidence of this, your chances are good.
