About this scholarship

What you get

You will receive a travel grant of up to 850 EUR to attend a scientific congress or conference in 2026, at which you will present your work. The exact amount depends on where the event is held and what you will be presenting there. For in-person events, the grant covers the registration fee and travel expenses up to a maximum of:

  • 250 EUR (oral presentation) or 150 EUR (poster) on the Iberian Peninsula
  • 350 or 250 euros for the Spanish islands, Ceuta and Melilla
  • 550 or 450 EUR for Europe and the UK
  • 850 or 750 euros for the rest of the world

For an online event, you get up to 150 EUR for the registration fee. The grant never pays more than your actual costs, and you must show receipts. The money comes from the University of Burgos's own annual research programme, which has 50,000 EUR set aside for these bursaries in 2026.

Who can apply

  • Who you are: You are active teaching and research staff (PDI) at the University of Burgos, with full research capacity and ongoing research at the university.
  • What you do at the event: You are giving a lecture, an oral presentation or presenting a poster at a 2026 congress or scientific conference.
  • Field of study: All areas of research count.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply. What matters is that you are on the university's research staff.
  • Which events count: The event must take place in 2026. Conferences, summer schools and language courses organised by the University of Burgos itself are not eligible for funding.
  • One grant only: You may apply for one scholarship per call for applications. It is not possible to combine this with the University’s conference scholarship for doctoral students or the mobility grant for teaching innovation.

How to apply

Please register online via the ‘Universitas XXI-Investigacion’ system before the start of the conference. Please attach your confirmation of attendance and the link to the event’s website. The application period runs from 26 January to 30 November 2026 (until 23:59). The Research Commission will review the applications, and the Vice-Chancellor for Research will make the decision.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is aimed at a narrowly defined group: only active research assistants at the University of Burgos who are giving a presentation at a 2026 conference are eligible to apply. The fund, worth 50,000 EUR, is distributed throughout the year and awarded until the budget is exhausted; therefore, it is advisable to apply early. If you meet the criteria for staff members and have a proposed presentation topic that has been accepted, your chances are good.
