About this scholarship

What the PAEM grants give you

At the Universitat Abat Oliba CEU (UAO CEU), a private university in Barcelona, you are eligible for a reduction in your tuition fees. The amount of the discount starts at 10% to 50% of the total programme cost, depending on which grant you are eligible for. It applies to a Master’s, postgraduate or specialisation programme. There are various types of grants available, which cannot be combined with one another:

  • Academic excellence: 30% Exemption if you have studied in the EU and can demonstrate a weighted average mark of 8.5 of 10 or higher, provided that you have passed all subjects. If you have studied outside the EU, you will receive a 30% discount if you have graduated with the highest honours (matrícula de honor) or a 10% discount if your weighted average mark is 9 out of 10.
  • Financial need: two grants of 25% and two of 15% per Master’s degree programme, awarded on the basis of your family income.
  • UAO CEU link: 20% free if you have obtained a bachelor’s degree from the UAO CEU within the last 3 years; 10% free for former CEU students or their children.
  • International early enrolment: 10% First-year tuition fees waived for international students (20 scholarships available).

The discounts do not apply to the CEU administration fee.

Who can apply

  • Level: You are enrolled on an official Master’s, postgraduate or specialisation programme at UAO CEU, or are about to enrol.
  • Previous degree: You have completed a university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent).
  • Field of study: Open to all degree programmes offered by the university.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. The early enrolment scholarship is intended exclusively for international students; all other scholarships are open to applicants regardless of their country of origin.
  • Grades or need: Very good grades are required to qualify for the merit-based scholarship. Means-tested scholarships depend on your family’s financial situation.

How to apply

Please submit the application form and the required documents in person or by email to the University’s Academic Administration Service no later than 15 calendar days before the start of your degree programme. A separate deadline applies to the international scholarship for early enrolment: Apply for it by 20 May to the Postgraduate Admissions Service and secure your place by 31 May. Applications are processed in the order in which they are received, so please apply early.

How realistic are your chances?

This is a university-funded discount tied to a specific institution, meaning that only students attending the UAO CEU can apply for it. This keeps the pool of applicants small. Places are limited per degree programme; for example, there are two 25% and two 15% means-tested scholarships available, and applications are assessed in the order in which they are received. If you clearly meet the criteria for a scholarship – whether through good grades or proven financial need – and submit your documents in good time, your chances are good.
