About this scholarship
Grants to attend international scientific conferences (UGR Programme 13)
You will receive a travel grant of up to 150 EUR per day, and up to 1350 EUR in total to attend an international academic conference abroad. It will be paid by the University of Granada. The daily allowance depends on the venue: 80 EUR on the Iberian Peninsula, 100 EUR in Europe, the Canary Islands, the Balearic Islands and North Africa, and 150 EUR for all other countries. The grant covers part of your travel, accommodation and subsistence costs. The conference registration fee is not covered, and the grant is not intended to cover your full costs. You may receive a maximum of one grant per year; a research group may receive a maximum of three per year.
Who can apply
- Who you are: You are a member of the teaching and research staff (PDI) at the University of Granada. Temporary lecturers may also apply, but only if they are involved in a research project at the University of Granada and the conference topic is directly related to their teaching activities.
- Your role at the event: You must be the first author – whether this is for a guest lecture, an oral presentation or a poster – or you must be chairing a panel discussion or a session. Simply attending is not sufficient.
- Recent funding: You did not receive this grant in either of the two previous calls for applications.
- Event type: The conference is an international event and takes place from 1 January 2026 to 30 April 2027.
- Field of study: All areas of research are eligible.
- Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they are UGR staff members.
How to apply
You must apply online via the University of Granada’s Research Office portal and confirm your submission via the UGR’s electronic register. The call for applications runs from 9 March to 25 September 2026; decisions will be made in April, July and November 2026. You must enclose proof of acceptance of your presentation, paper or poster, a brief description and the official event programme.
How realistic are your chances?
This funding is aimed at a select group: only research staff at the University of Granada who are actively presenting at an international conference may apply, meaning the pool of applicants is limited. If you meet these criteria, your paper has been accepted and you were not shortlisted in the last two rounds, your chances are good. Invited talks and session chairs are given priority over oral presentations and posters. It is advisable to apply early within the application period, as funding is allocated in three rounds.
