About this scholarship

What you get

You will receive a monthly grant of about 165 EUR to study for one semester or a full academic year at another university in Spain, for a maximum of 12 months. SICUE is Spain’s national student exchange programme, often referred to as the ‘Spanish Erasmus’. You will complete part of your degree programme at another Spanish university, and your home university, the University of Málaga, guarantees that the credits earned there will count towards your degree. CRUE, the Spanish University Association, organises the exchange, and the University of Málaga provides this additional grant.

Who can apply

  • Where you study: You are enrolled on a bachelor’s degree programme (Grado) at the University of Málaga.
  • Where you go: Another university in Spain that has an exchange agreement with Málaga for your degree programme.
  • Credits so far: You must have earned at least 45 ECTS credits prior to applying. ECTS credits are the standardised European credit system used to recognise the successful completion of courses.
  • Credits abroad: You must enrol for at least 24 ECTS credits per term or at least 45 ECTS credits per year at the host university.
  • Field of study: Anyone interested is welcome to apply.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. The key requirement is that you are enrolled at the University of Málaga.
  • Grades: Your position on the list is determined by your average mark and the number of credit points you have earned. Better results and more credit points will move you up the list.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted via the University of Málaga’s academic portal (Portal Académico) and not to the host university. The application deadline is 31 January. You must submit a study agreement listing the modules you wish to take abroad, along with their equivalents at the University of Málaga. Selection is based on your grade point average and your credit points; there is therefore no interview.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is aimed exclusively at Bachelor’s students at the University of Málaga; consequently, the pool of applicants is small compared to open scholarships. Selection is based solely on academic grades and the number of credit points earned. If you can demonstrate strong academic performance and have achieved significantly more than the required 45 ECTS credits, your chances are good. Apply by the deadline and choose a degree programme for which an agreement is in place.
