International teaching placement in France

You get a one-off grant of 198 EUR towards a 5- to 6-week teaching placement at a primary school in France. The placement runs between February and May, depending on the French school holidays. You join a primary class and teach in French as a generalist teacher, and you can also teach Spanish as a foreign language. A mentor teacher at the French school and a supervisor from your own faculty guide you throughout. The University of Murcia's Faculty of Education offers the programme, based on agreements with the universities of Nancy and Rouen.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You study at the University of Murcia, in the 4th year of the Grado en Educación Primaria (primary teacher training degree).
• Specialisation: You are in the French stream (Mención Lengua Extranjera: Francés).
• French level: You hold a French language certificate at Level B1 or higher, for example DELF B1, TCF Level 3 B1, TEF Level 3 or the University of Murcia language certificate at Level B1.3.
• Courses passed: You have passed the modules ‘Prácticas Escolares II’ and ‘Enseñanza y Aprendizaje de Francés’ and are enrolled on the module ‘Prácticas Escolares III’.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. The key requirement is that you are enrolled on this specific degree programme in Murcia.

How to apply

Please submit your application documents to the University of Murcia’s secretariat by 30 October. Successful applicants will then attend an interview at the faculty. During this interview, your oral French skills, your ability to handle unexpected situations and your interpersonal skills will be assessed. Your academic grades and a level of French above B1 will also be taken into account in the selection process.

How realistic are your chances?

This placement is cut very narrowly: only 4th-year Murcia primary-teaching students on the French track with B1 French can apply, and past rounds offered roughly 8 to 10 places. The eligible group is small, so if you clearly meet these conditions your prospects are good. Strong grades and French above B1 add points, and a confident interview in French is what decides it.
