What you get

At the Universidad Europea de Canarias, a private university with campuses in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and La Orotava, you are eligible for a reduction in your tuition fees. Every year, it awards six discounts: four cover 25% of your tuition fees and two cover 50%, worth approximately 400 euros. The local council (Ayuntamiento) of La Orotava provides the discount, not the university.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are starting a Bachelor’s degree (Grado), a dual degree (Grado) or a Master’s degree or postgraduate programme at the Universidad Europea de Canarias.
• Study mode: You’re studying on campus in the Canary Islands, not online.
• Residence: You are officially registered as a resident (empadronado) in the municipality of La Orotava.
• Field of study: Every subject offered by the university.
• Nationality: Applicants of any nationality may apply, provided they are registered as residents in La Orotava.

How to apply

You apply directly to the Town Council (Ayuntamiento) of La Orotava, not via the university. The application period opens every summer. The Town Council sets the exact dates and selects the six scholarship recipients.

How realistic are your chances?

Only six places are awarded each year, exclusively to residents of La Orotava who enrol at this particular university. This keeps the number of applicants low. If you clearly meet the residency requirement and enrol, your chances are good. Apply as soon as the summer application window opens.
