University of La Laguna - Grants to Support Attendance to Scientific Meetings and Conferences

What you get

You will receive a travel allowance of up to 850 EUR for attending a scientific conference or research meeting. The amount of the grant depends on the venue: a lower amount is awarded for short trips within the Canary Islands, whilst the maximum rate applies for conferences in the rest of the world. The grant covers your travel expenses so that you can present your research findings to an international audience. It is awarded by the University of La Laguna (ULL) in Tenerife and is partly funded by Banco Santander.

Who can apply

• Who you are: You are a PhD student or a member of the teaching and research staff at the University of La Laguna.
• Enrolment: As a doctoral student, you remain enrolled on a PhD programme at the ULL.
• What you do there: You’ll be giving a talk, presenting a poster or delivering a presentation at the event – you won’t just be attending as a visitor.
• Where the event is: The conference is international and takes place outside Spain.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities may apply, provided they are enrolled at or employed by the ULL.

How to apply

You apply online through the ULL electronic office (Sede Electrónica), the university's online submission portal. Paper submissions are not accepted. There are two application windows each year, one closing on 1 June and one on 1 October. Check which window matches your event before you submit.

How realistic are your chances?

As only ULL PhD students and staff who are presenting their own work are eligible to apply, the pool of eligible participants is small. If you meet these criteria and can demonstrate that you have a paper, poster or presentation that has been accepted, your chances are good. Please apply as soon as your participation has been confirmed, as funding and places are limited.
