About this scholarship

Predoctoral Travel Bursaries (University of Cantabria)

You will receive a one-off travel allowance of up to 700 EUR to attend a scientific conference or academic symposium outside the Spanish region of Cantabria. This will cover your travel expenses and, where applicable, your accommodation costs, so that you can present your research findings. The University of Cantabria in Santander, Spain, funds this grant as part of its own research programme (Programa Propio). You may apply several times a year, although only one application may be submitted per conference.

Who can apply

  • Where you study: You are a PhD student, researcher or research assistant at the University of Cantabria or one of its institutes.
  • Research group: You are an active member of a research project or research group at the University of Cantabria.
  • Field of study: Open to all subjects.
  • Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
  • Where the event is: The conference will take place outside Cantabria, either in Spain or abroad.
  • Proof: Your submission has been accepted, or you have been invited to the event.

How to apply

Applications are made online via the University of Cantabria’s ‘Campus Virtual’. The application period begins in January and runs until 23 October each year. Decisions are made approximately every three months in several rounds.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is intended exclusively for individuals who are already enrolled at the University of Cantabria and are travelling to a conference to present their own research findings; the pool of applicants is therefore small and clearly defined. If you are a member of a research group at the UC and one of your conference papers has been accepted, your chances are good. It is advisable to apply early in the year, as decisions on awarding the scholarship are made in several rounds, subject to funds being available.
