Official College of Telecommunication Engineers (Spain) - Doctoral Dissertation and End of Degree Project Awards

What you get

You will win 2,000 EUR (before tax) for the best doctoral thesis in the field of telecommunications engineering. You will also receive an additional year’s free membership of COIT and AEIT, a certificate, and the opportunity to visit the company sponsoring your prize category. The prize is awarded once a year by the Spanish Professional Association of Telecommunications Engineers (COIT), in conjunction with the AEIT. There are five categories, each with one winner: a general technology prize and four thematic prizes covering the fields of space and satellite applications, satellite communication systems, security and defence, and people-centred technology (technology and health).

Who can apply

• Degree: You hold a qualification that enables you to work as a telecommunications engineer in Spain: the title ‘Ingeniero de Telecomunicación’, a Master’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering or an equivalent qualification recognised in Spain.
• When you finished: You defended your doctoral thesis between 1 January 2025 and 31 December 2025.
• Membership: When you register, you automatically become a member of both COIT and AEIT. A one-off registration fee of 18 EUR covers both memberships, and upon admission, the 2026 annual membership fee is waived.
• Supervisor: Your supervisor is also a member of COIT/AEIT, or your department has confirmed the work in writing.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.

How to apply

You should submit your work via the COIT awards platform at premios.coit.es. The closing date for entries is 30 March 2026. The jury will announce its decision at the end of May 2026. You may submit the same work in up to three categories.

How realistic are your chances?

The eligibility criteria for this prize are strictly defined: entrants must hold a specific degree in telecommunications engineering and must have successfully defended their dissertation within a calendar year, meaning that the pool of eligible candidates is small. There is only one winner in each category, and the prize may not be awarded if the standard of the entries is too low, which sets the bar high. If your work fits well with one of the thematic categories, you can increase your chances by entering several categories at once.
