About this scholarship

Atlanticus-Santander scholarship (Pablo de Olavide University)

You will receive a basic grant of 1,500 EUR for a period of study abroad at a partner university in the USA, Canada, the Bahamas or Australia. Depending on your destination, you may be eligible for an additional supplement. The exact amount is specified for each university in the call for applications. You may combine this scholarship with other funding, provided it is a different type of grant. The programme is run by the Pablo de Olavide University (UPO) in Seville in collaboration with Banco Santander.

Who can apply

  • Where you study: You are enrolled on a bachelor’s degree programme (Grado) at Pablo de Olavide University in Seville and will remain enrolled there for the following year.
  • Study level: For Bachelor’s students only. Master’s students are not eligible to apply.
  • Progress: At the time of your application, you will have earned at least 48 ECTS credits, which corresponds roughly to the halfway point of your degree programme.
  • Residence: You live in Spain.
  • Field of study: Open to all disciplines.
  • Language: You have a command of English at level B2 or above (CEFR, the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). C1 and C2 will earn you extra points in the selection process.
  • First time: You have not yet received any funding from this programme.
  • Registration: You are registered on the Santander platform (santanderopenacademy.com) using your university email address.

How to apply

You should apply online via the UPO’s International Office (ARIC) portal for the 2026/2027 call for applications. Please list your five preferred locations in order of preference and attach proof of your English language proficiency. The application deadline is 8 January. Selection is on a competitive basis and is primarily based on your weighted average mark. Whether you are ultimately offered a place also depends on whether you are accepted by the host university.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding is available exclusively to Bachelor’s students at Pablo de Olavide University who have earned 48 ECTS credits and achieved English level B2; the pool of applicants is therefore limited to this one university. Places are limited and are awarded primarily on the basis of your grade point average, so good academic performance is crucial. If your grades are good and you meet the language and academic progress requirements, your prospects are good.
