BEA Scholarships (UIC Barcelona)

To study for a Bachelor’s degree at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC Barcelona), a private university with campuses in Barcelona and Sant Cugat del Vallès, you will receive a grant of discount on your tuition fees. The amount of the grant depends on which option you are awarded. For the degree in Medicine, the Fundación Nemesio Diez scholarship covers 100% of your tuition fees in the first year and up to 80% from the second year onwards. A separate scholarship for Medicine grants 8 students in their second to fifth years of study a reduction of 25% (approximately 3,600 euros per year). If you are an international student completing your entire degree at UIC, you can receive up to 20% off your tuition fees across all years of study. The scholarships are awarded to new students with outstanding academic achievements at school or university.

Who can apply

• Degree level: You are starting a bachelor’s degree (Grado) at UIC Barcelona or are already studying there.
• Fields of study: There are numerous subject areas to choose from, including medicine, health sciences, dentistry, law, education, communication studies, business administration and architecture. The international programme does not include medicine or dentistry.
• Grades: You have achieved excellent results. New pupils generally need an average of at least 8 in their first year of the Bachillerato (upper secondary school); admission to a degree in medicine requires an average of at least 8.5.
• Entrance test: You have passed the UIC’s own entrance examination (prueba específica).
• Nationality: Open to all nationalities, with a special option for international students.
• Financial situation: To be eligible for the medical scholarship, the most important factor is having the best grades, but your family’s per capita income also plays a part, and your family must be liable for tax in Spain or Andorra.
• Other awards: This offer cannot be combined with other UIC grants, discounts or instalment payment plans.

How to apply

You apply online via the UIC Barcelona admissions portal and sit the university’s entrance exam, which takes place three times a year (in November, January and April). The application deadline is 26 March. Once you have been admitted, you must pay the place reservation fee to secure your scholarship. The final decision rests with UIC.

How realistic are your chances?

These scholarships are linked to a private university and are awarded on the basis of top academic results, meaning that only particularly high-achieving first-year students who choose to study at UIC Barcelona are eligible to apply for them. Competition for scholarships to study medicine is particularly fierce, as the number of places is limited and the grade threshold is high. If your grades significantly exceed the minimum requirements, you pass the entrance examination and you meet one of the eligibility criteria, your prospects are good.
