About this scholarship
What you get
You will receive 600 EUR gross per month for a paid internship lasting 2 months. The Fundación Comillas offers this programme to students on its ‘Hispanic Studies’ degree programme. In the 2025 round, 12 scholarships are available. You will undertake your placement at one of several cultural and academic institutions in Cantabria, such as the Real Sociedad Menéndez Pelayo, the Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo, El Capricho or the Fundación Gerardo Diego. The aim is to apply what you have learnt during your studies, gain practical professional experience and establish contacts within the world of the Spanish language and culture.
Who can apply
- Programme: You are studying for a ‘Grado en Estudios Hispánicos’ (Bachelor’s degree in Hispanic Studies) at CIESE-Fundación Comillas, the higher education centre affiliated with the University of Cantabria. No other degree programmes are recognised.
- Year of study: Any year from the 1st to the 4th can apply. Higher years score more points, so students further into the degree have an edge.
- Nationality and residence: You will need a Spanish national identity card (DNI) and a Spanish social security card. This means you must be resident in Spain and authorised to work there.
- Grades: Your average mark counts for the most. It can account for up to 50 out of 100 marks, so good marks are the most important single factor.
- Extra profile: Your CV scores a total of 35 points, including for language skills (assessed according to CEFR levels), other qualifications, and professional, teaching or research experience.
How to apply
Please email your application form and the required documents to the Foundation within a short application window. In the year 2025, the application window ran from 1 to 6 April. A committee assesses applicants on the basis of their grades, year of study and CV. Each successful applicant is then allocated a host institution based on their profile and the priorities they have specified. A waiting list is also drawn up.
How realistic are your chances?
This scholarship is very narrowly defined: only students on a specific Bachelor’s degree programme at a specific university can apply. You’ll therefore be competing with your fellow students for 12 places, not with the general public. If your grade point average is high and your CV is impressive, your chances are good. Keep a close eye on the application deadline, as the window is only open for about a week.
