Comillas Foundation - Scholarships for Master Studies

What you get

You will receive your tuition fees covered, fully or by half for the one-year Master’s programme in ‘Spanish as a Foreign Language’ (ELE) at CIESE-Fundación Comillas. This centre is affiliated with the University of Cantabria in Comillas, Spain. The amount of the scholarship depends on your grade point average. If your average is 8 or higher, your full enrolment fees (and often your tuition fees as well) will be covered. If your average is 6 or higher, you will receive 50%. Your family income also determines which tier you are placed in. The Fundación Comillas awards two of these scholarships each year. In return, you must attend at least 85% of the modules, pass 90% of your credits and complete up to 60 hours of voluntary work per year. The scholarship covers tuition fees only; living costs are not included.

Who can apply

• Study: You are a first-year student and are starting the official Master’s degree programme in ‘Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE)’ at CIESE-Fundación Comillas.
• Pre-registration: You have applied for the Master’s programme at the University of Cantabria within the deadline.
• Grades: Your average mark must be at least 8 to qualify for full insurance cover, and at least 6 for half insurance cover.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
• No other funding: You are not currently receiving any other public or private scholarship.

How to apply

First, apply (in advance) for the Master’s programme at the University of Cantabria. Then send the application form and your supporting documents to the Foundation. These include your academic transcript, your CV, your identity card and proof of family income, if you wish to apply for the low-income category. The deadline is 3 July 2026 (the application round begins on 1 June 2026). Selection is based solely on your supporting documents, in particular your academic results and your income. There will be no interview.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding is very limited: only two scholarships are awarded to first-year students on a specific Master’s programme. The pool of eligible applicants is small, but so is the number of places available. Your grade point average is the decisive factor, as it determines which funding tier you are eligible for. If your average is well above 8 and you apply in good time, your chances are good.
