Erasmus Kutxabank Scholarship

You will receive up to 1,200 EUR for a full academic year abroad as part of an Erasmus exchange, or up to 700 EUR if you are only spending one semester abroad. The funding comes from Kutxabank, a bank in the Basque Country, Spain. It supplements the standard Erasmus grants from your university and the EU, and you can combine it with other scholarships. If more students apply than the budget allows for, the amount will be divided proportionally, with each grant amounting to at least 300 EUR. You can only receive this grant once during your studies.

Who can apply

• Degree level: You are a Bachelor’s student (Grado) and have been officially accepted for an Erasmus exchange. Work placements, Master’s programmes, postgraduate programmes and PhD positions do not count towards this.
• Where you go: Your Erasmus destination is a country in the European Union or the United Kingdom.
• University: You’re studying at any Spanish university, not just Basque ones.
• Where you live: You are registered as a resident in the Basque Country (Gipuzkoa, Araba or Bizkaia) or in Córdoba.
• Field of study: Any topic is allowed.
• Bank customer: You have been a Kutxabank customer since 31 May and hold an account, a Visa Korner card, Bizum (a mobile payment service) and an active online banking account. You agree to remain a customer for at least another 24 months after submitting your application.
• Learning Agreement: You have a Learning Agreement (your study plan for your exchange) which has been signed by you and your home university.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the Kutxabank form by 31 May. There will be no interview. The decision will be based solely on whether you meet the requirements, and you will be notified of the result by email from 1 July.

How realistic are your chances?

The eligibility criteria for this grant are very strict. You must be registered as a resident in the Basque Country or in Córdoba, be a Kutxabank customer, and be taking part in an Erasmus exchange programme as part of a bachelor’s degree programme in the EU or the United Kingdom. This means that the pool of eligible applicants is small. If you clearly meet these conditions and apply before the deadline, your chances are good, although the amount may be reduced if the number of applications exceeds the budget.
