About this scholarship

What you get

You will receive a discount of 50% to 70% off the teaching fees on your Bachelor’s degree at Alfonso X el Sabio University (UAX), a private university in Madrid. The exact amount depends on your final grade: 50% for a grade point average of 8.5 to 8.99, 60% for 9.0 to 9.59, and 70% for 9.6 to 10. The grant is awarded by the Alfonso X el Sabio University Foundation in conjunction with the university. You will receive it for your first year of study and can renew it each year provided you continue to achieve good results. The discount applies only to tuition fees, not to enrolment or place-reservation fees.

Who can apply

  • Degree level: You are starting a bachelor’s degree at the UAX for the first time and have not previously completed any higher education studies.
  • Field of study: All bachelor’s degree programmes at the university, with the exception of the Medicine programme, for which there is a separate scholarship.
  • Where you study: You are studying in person at the UAX in Madrid, not online.
  • Grades: You have a final average mark (Bachillerato) of at least 8.5 or an equivalent qualification from another system (e.g. Abitur 1.9, IB 37, the French Baccalauréat 17 or A-Levels with all A grades).
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. If your grades are from a non-Spanish school system, you must provide an official certificate confirming that your grades are equivalent.
  • Admission and payment: You have passed the entrance examinations, been admitted and paid the fees for place reservation and enrolment.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online using the foundation’s official form during the application period. In the 2025–2026 round, this ran until 23 June. Applicants are ranked according to their average mark. In the event of a tie, both applicants will be invited to a face-to-face interview.

How realistic are your chances?

This is a merit-based selection process in which your ranking is determined solely on the basis of your final mark; your chances therefore depend directly on how high that mark is. With a mark of 9.6 or better, you qualify for the top tier, 70%, and will be among the highest-ranked applicants. Places are limited by the Foundation’s budget; therefore, a good grade point average and an early, complete application offer the best prospects.
