About this scholarship
Rodrigo Uría Scholarship for Lawyering and Humanities
For the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) programme at IE University in Madrid, which is taught in English, you will receive a partial cut of your tuition fees. The exact amount is not disclosed. It is calculated on an individual basis, depending on your profile and the funding available at the time. You will also be offered an internship and mentoring (personalised support from an experienced lawyer) at the law firm Uría Menéndez. The firm funds the scholarship jointly with the IE Foundation. One student is selected each year.
Who can apply
- Programme: You would like to study for a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) at IE University, which is taught in English.
- Admission: You will already have been admitted to the LL.B. programme by the time you apply.
- Grades: You have an excellent academic record.
- Humanities interest: You regularly and publicly take part in activities in the humanities, such as literary prizes, publications, a literary or art society, a debating society, photography or work at a cultural institution.
- Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. There are no geographical restrictions.
How to apply
You should submit your application for financial support from the IE by 30 April, following your admission. Please attach your scholarship essay in the ‘Additional Documents’ section. The final decision will be made by a scholarship committee of the IE Foundation.
How realistic are your chances?
Only one student is selected each year; it is therefore a single, highly competitive award rather than a broad-based funding scheme. The selection is strictly limited to a specific degree programme and profile: prospective LL.B. students who, in addition to good grades, can demonstrate genuine, proven achievements in the humanities. If this clearly applies to you, you will be competing against a small, self-selecting group; however, as there is only one place available per year, the chances are slim.
