About this scholarship
Healthcare research traineeship grant (Junta de Extremadura)
You will receive 1,290 EUR gross per month (before deduction of income tax and social security contributions) for your work on a research project in the fields of health planning, training and quality in Extremadura, Spain. The scholarship commences on the date of approval. It may be renewed for one calendar year at a time, up to a total of 4 years, subject to budget availability. Payment is made monthly by bank transfer. The funding body is the Regional Ministry of Health and Social Policy of Extremadura (Consejería de Salud y Política Social). This is a research placement, not a job. No employment relationship is established, and you may not combine it with any other remuneration or grants.
Who can apply
- Degree: You hold one of three specific university degrees. One scholarship is available for the field of nursing, one for library and information science, and one for statistics.
- Study level: You hold a postgraduate qualification.
- Nationality: You are a national of Spain or another EU country, or a family member with the right to freedom of movement within the EU.
- Employment status: You are registered as unemployed at the time the benefit is granted. You must provide evidence of this by means of a SEXPE certificate from the regional employment agency.
- Age: You are at least 18.
How to apply
Please submit the official application form together with your CV, proof of identity, your degree certificate and your academic transcript. The application deadline is 16 April (10 working days after the call for applications is published). The selection process consists of two stages. Firstly, your application documents will be assessed in terms of your academic results, professional and research experience, language skills and the courses you have completed. The five best candidates for each scholarship will then be invited to an interview, during which they will be asked about their research topic as well as their English and IT skills.
How realistic are your chances?
Only three scholarships are awarded – one per discipline – so there are very few applicants in each discipline. However, having just one scholarship per subject area also means that the requirements are high. If you have exactly the right qualification, are registered as unemployed and can demonstrate relevant research experience, you stand a real chance. A convincing interview on the relevant research topic is crucial.
