About this scholarship

What the Academic Excellence Award covers

At Loyola University, a Jesuit university with campuses in Seville, Córdoba and Granada in southern Spain, you will receive a grant of up to 100% of your master's tuition fees. The amount of the grant depends on your final mark from your previous degree programme, which is measured on a Spanish scale from 0 to 10. In the Engineering and Mathematics programmes, a mark of 8.5 or better entitles you to a full waiver of tuition fees. In all other subjects, you will need a grade of 9.0 or higher for 100%. Grades below these thresholds, but above the minimum entry requirement, entitle you to a partial waiver of tuition fees. The funding begins as an interest-free loan. As soon as you have completed your Master’s degree at the university, it becomes a grant that you never have to repay. If you withdraw from your studies, you must repay the amount received.

Who can apply

  • Degree level: You already hold a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification and would like to enrol on a master’s programme at Loyola University.
  • Where you study: You enrol on one of the university’s official Master’s programmes at its postgraduate school (Escuela de Postgrado).
  • Field of study: Any subject area is eligible, from engineering and law to psychology, communication studies, education and theology.
  • Grades: To be eligible to apply at all, you must have a minimum of 7.5/10 for Master’s programmes in engineering and mathematics, and 8.1/10 for all other subject areas.
  • Nationality: Applicants of any nationality are welcome to apply, including international students.
  • Other funding: This offer cannot be combined with any other scholarships or discounts offered by Universidad Loyola.

How to apply

Applications are made online using the form on the Universidad Loyola website. You must already have been admitted to the university. For the start of studies in 2025/26, the application deadline was 31. July; if places are still available, an additional application round may be opened in September. You will receive a reply by email within approximately 10 to 15 working days.

How realistic are your chances?

This is not a single award, but a comprehensive scheme: the university has awarded 570 of these awards to 2024/25 students. It is therefore realistic to expect some support with your tuition fees if you meet the grade threshold for your degree programme. Full 100% funding is more difficult to secure, as it requires a very good final mark and only around a third of scholarship recipients have achieved this level. If you meet the minimum grade for your subject, are admitted and apply before the deadline in July – then your chances are good.
