Autonomous Community of Andalusia - Talentia Scholarships

What you get

You will receive a monthly living allowance of 1,880 EUR for up to 24 months of full-time study abroad. In addition, the programme will cover your tuition fees (in full or in part, depending on your income), a one-off relocation allowance of 1,500 EUR, travel costs ranging from 300 to 1,000 EUR, as well as 6,000 EUR per year if you take children or dependants with you. In total, the average grant amounts to approximately 40,000 to 45,000 EUR per person. It is intended to fund a Master’s degree, an MBA or another specialised degree programme at a leading international university. The programme is run by the Regional Government of Andalusia in Spain. Its aim is to enable talented young people from the region to study at the world’s best universities and subsequently return there to work.

Who can apply

• Degree: You hold a bachelor’s degree (or an equivalent qualification) which you obtained within the last 10 years.
• Where you go: You have been accepted onto your chosen course at a prestigious university abroad.
• Field of study: All topics are permitted. The nine priority areas of Andalusia are preferred, but are not mandatory.
• Nationality: You are a citizen of an EU country.
• Link to Andalusia: You have at least one connection to Andalusia. You were born there, have lived there for at least 3 years, are an Andalusian living abroad, or have obtained a degree from a public university in Andalusia.
• Return commitment: You are prepared to return to Andalusia and work there within 4 years of completing your degree.

How to apply

You can apply online via the Junta de Andalucía’s electronic portal or submit your application in paper form. A selection panel assesses each application. Your academic and professional profile carries the greatest weight (60%). The rest depends on the quality of your degree programme and your university, your plans for returning to Andalusia, and your links with Andalusian universities.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding scheme is very restrictive. You need an EU passport, a clear connection to Andalusia and an offer of a place at a top university, so the pool of eligible applicants is far smaller than for open scholarships. If you meet these requirements and have an outstanding academic record as well as a convincing plan for your return, your prospects are good. The real challenge lies in securing a place at a leading university in the first place – so make sure you sort this out well in advance.
