University of Seville - Research Introduction Grants

What you get

You will receive a one-off research grant for your first supervised research project at the University of Seville in Spain. The amount depends on your stage of study:

• Final part of a bachelor's degree (Grado): 750 EUR, plus 500 EUR if you enrol on an official Master’s programme (or a PhD programme with direct entry) next year.
• Official master's: 1,500 euros, plus 250 euros if you start a PhD programme next year.

During the funding period, you will work on a research project under the supervision of a professor who holds a PhD. The funding comes from the university’s own research budget.

Who can apply

• University: You’re studying at the University of Seville.
• Study level: You are about to complete your Bachelor’s degree (you still need 12.5% to 25% credit points) or are enrolled on an official Master’s programme at the university.
• Field of study: Any topic. Up to 7 grants will be awarded to each of the five major fields of knowledge.
• Grades: You have a weighted average of at least 7.0 out of a total of 10.
• First time: You have not yet received this grant in this category.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
• Disability quota: 5% of the funding in each category is reserved for applicants with a disability of 33% or more.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the university’s system. You must submit your research proposal (max. 5 pages), a reference from your supervisor and approval from your department. The application period runs from 1 to 30 November. There will be no interview. A research committee will assess the applications, with 90% of the weighting allocated to your academic record and your marks.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is highly selective: you must already be studying at the University of Seville, be at a specific stage of your degree and have a strong average mark. Only students at this university may apply. Up to 35 scholarships per category are allocated across five fields of study, meaning competition is low in each field. As grades and your academic record account for 90% of the total score, a good grade point average and a well-written scholarship application letter offer good prospects.
