Autonomous Community of Andalusia/University of Málaga - Junta de Andalucía Scholarship

Benefit

You will receive up to 1,000 EUR as a grant towards the costs of one year of a Bachelor’s degree programme at University of Málaga in Spain. The grant will be paid out in instalments. Your enrolment fees may be covered up to up to 1,000 EUR for engineering or architecture, and up to 800 EUR for all other subjects. In addition, you will receive a flat-rate accommodation allowance of 1,000 EUR as well as 20 meal vouchers. The programme is run jointly by the University of Málaga and the Junta de Andalucía, the regional government of Andalusia, to help students who are unable to finance their studies entirely themselves.

Eligibility

• Degree level: You are enrolled on a bachelor’s degree programme (Grado) at the University of Málaga.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects.
• Nationality: You are a national of Spain or another EU country. If you have applied for international protection, you may also submit an application.
• Financial need: Your household income is below the specified thresholds. As a guide, the threshold is approximately 3,771 EUR for a single-person household and 13,909 EUR for a four-person household.
• Grades: In your first year of study, you must achieve at least 5.00 in the university entrance examination. From the second year of study onwards, you must earn a minimum number of credit points: 30 ECTS for most degree programmes and 24 ECTS for engineering and architecture.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the University of Málaga’s academic portal (Portal Académico). If you are already receiving only the Ministry’s enrolment grant, you will automatically be considered and do not need to submit a separate application.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding is restricted to one university and to students who meet certain income thresholds. The group of those eligible for funding is therefore significantly smaller than for open national scholarships. If you are studying at the University of Málaga and your family’s income falls below the specified thresholds, your chances are good. Places are allocated on the basis of both financial need and academic performance; a lower income combined with strong academic results will therefore give you a higher ranking on the list.
