City of Dundee Educational Trust bursary

You will receive a one-off grant of up to about 580 EUR (£500) for one academic year to help cover your study costs. The grant is provided by the City of Dundee Educational Trust and is aimed at students with a strong, long-standing connection to Dundee in Scotland. You are eligible to receive one grant per year. Priority is given to students who do not receive a compulsory state study grant; the grant therefore fills a funding gap for those who lack other sources of support.

Who can apply

• Link to Dundee: You are from Dundee and have been living in the city for at least five years. Moving there solely to start your studies does not count.
• Where you study: You can study at any university or further education college anywhere in the UK or abroad.
• Field of study: Open to all disciplines.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome. What matters is your connection to Dundee, not your passport.
• Study stage: You are either starting a degree course for the first time or an advanced degree course. Repeating a stage of study that you have already completed does not count towards this.
• Financial need: Priority will be given to students who do not receive a state-funded study grant.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the Foundation’s application form. The Foundation’s Board meets four times a year – in September, December, March and June – and sets an application deadline for each round. For the meeting on 2 September 2026, the application deadline is 12 August 2026 at 12 noon. You will receive a response within 48 hours of the meeting.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is narrowly defined: you must have lived in Dundee for at least five years, meaning that the eligible group is small and local. If you clearly meet this residence requirement and can prove that you do not receive any compulsory state benefit, your chances are good. The amount is modest and is more suitable as a top-up than as a main source of funding.
