About this scholarship
What you get
You get your full tuition fees paid plus a yearly living grant of about EUR 24,000 (£20,780 in 2025/26), for the full four years of your doctorate. The grant matches at least the standard UK Research Council rate. It is renewed each year if you make good academic progress and take part in college life. Green Templeton College and the Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford offer the award jointly. If you already hold a partial award from another source, for example ESRC, the Rhodes Trust or an Oxford Saïd research centre, the Templeton Education and Charity Trust can add top-up funding.
Who can apply
- Degree: You are starting a DPhil (doctorate) in October 2026, not continuing one you already began.
- Field of study: You study DPhil Management or DPhil Finance. No other subject qualifies.
- Where you study: You study at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.
- Admission first: You already have an offer of a place on the DPhil from the Saïd Business School.
- Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
How to apply
First apply for the DPhil Management or DPhil Finance course at the Saïd Business School through the normal admissions process. If you get a place offer, the college contacts you and invites you to apply for the scholarship. You then write a personal statement about how you would contribute to college life. A panel, including the college's Senior Tutor, ranks applicants on academic strength and fit with the college. The deadline is Friday, 5 December 2025 for entry in October 2026.
How realistic are your chances?
This award is cut very narrowly: only new Oxford DPhil students in Management or Finance who already hold a place offer can apply, so the pool is small. But those who reach that stage are already top doctoral candidates, and the college also weighs how well you fit its community. If you secure the place offer and can show a genuine contribution to college life, your prospects are realistic.
