About this scholarship
Benefit
You will receive about 2,300 EUR (£2,000) to study Fine Art at the Slade School of Fine Art, which is part of University College London (UCL). The amount will be paid in equal instalments at the start of each academic year, so that it covers the entire duration of your studies. The award will be granted when you commence your studies at the Slade. The scholarship is named after Euan Uglow (1932-2000), a British painter who taught at the Slade for many years.
Eligibility
- University: You are starting a degree in art at the Slade School of Fine Art at UCL in London.
- Level: All degree qualifications, from Bachelor’s (BA, BFA) to Master’s (MA, MFA).
- Field of study: Fine Art at the Slade.
- Timing: You must be starting your degree programme from scratch next year. Students who are already enrolled at the Slade are not eligible to apply.
- Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. There are no restrictions regarding nationality or place of residence.
How to apply
You do not need to submit a separate application. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of your results in the Slade’s entrance examinations and interviews. If you are applying for an MA or MFA programme, the top quarter of applicants who have been offered a place will be asked to complete a form detailing their financial circumstances. The final decision will then take into account the results of the interview and financial need.
How realistic are your chances?
This award is linked to the Slade’s own admissions decisions, meaning that only students who have been accepted onto the highly sought-after art courses are shortlisted. No separate application is required. The outcome depends on your performance in the interview and – for postgraduate students – your financial need; a compelling portfolio and a strong interview are therefore crucial for making the shortlist.
