Ordinary university scholarships of South Tyrol

For your first Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, you will receive a need-based grant of around 575 EUR, which is paid out once per academic year. The exact amount depends on your family’s financial situation. This is determined on the basis of a standardised income and assets declaration known as EEVE/DURP. The Autonomous Province of Bolzano – South Tyrol awards this grant as part of an annual public selection process. There is no age limit and no subject requirements. The grant can be awarded for up to 72 months over the entire duration of your studies.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are studying at a university or a university of applied sciences. Both full-time students and those officially classified as part-time students are eligible to apply.
• Study phase: This is your first degree, either at Bachelor’s or Master’s level.
• Field of study: Any topic is fine.
• Residence if you study in South Tyrol: You are an EU citizen or a non-EU citizen with a long-term residence permit, or you have refugee status or subsidiary protection status. Otherwise, you must have been registered as a resident in South Tyrol for at least one year without interruption.
• Residence if you study elsewhere: You must have been registered as a resident in South Tyrol for at least two years without interruption.
• Financial need: Your family’s income and assets must be below the specified limit.
• Progress and time: You are completing your degree within the official duration of study. You are also achieving the minimum number of credit points (ECTS) required for your academic year.

How to apply

First, have your income and assets declaration (EEVE/DURP) drawn up free of charge at a Patronat or a CAAF branch. Then submit your online application via the myCIVIS portal. The application period runs from 22 September to 3 November, at 12:00 midday. A provisional ranking list will be published at the end of November, with the final ranking list to follow next year.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is subject to residence in South Tyrol and your family’s financial circumstances. Consequently, eligibility is restricted to students with a genuine connection to the province and a genuine financial need. If you meet the residence and income criteria and your academic performance is within the required range, your prospects are good. As this is a means-tested grant rather than a single, prestigious award, demonstrating your financial situation is clearly more important than competing on the basis of grades.
