About this scholarship
Grant for a scientific expedition
You will receive 20,000 EUR for a single scientific expedition or field research project. You must spend the money within 20 months. The grant is provided by the Nordenskiöld Society in Finland (Nordenskiöld-samfundet i Finland), a scientific society founded in 1939. It supports ambitious projects that struggle to secure funding from the usual research funding bodies. The funding covers the direct costs of the expedition or field research, but not your team’s salaries or general overheads. The Society interprets the term ‘expedition’ very broadly – ranging from fossil excavations to urban research in Africa – although the focus has traditionally been on archipelago and Arctic research.
