About this scholarship
Ernesti Riesa Foundation Travel Grant
You will receive a one-off grant to help fund a study-related trip abroad, usually between 240 EUR and 700 EUR per person per trip. There is no fixed amount: the Foundation’s Board determines the amount for each application. In the past, these grants have been used to fund an internship in Spain (400 EUR), a conference in Turkey (500 EUR) and other internships and conferences abroad (600 to 700 EUR). The grant is provided by the Ernesti-Riesa Foundation (Ernesti Riesan Säätiö), which was founded in 2010 by the Tampere chapter of the student organisation AIESEC.
Who can apply
- Where you study: You study at a university or university of applied sciences in Pirkanmaa, the region around Tampere in Finland (for example Tampere University or Tampere University of Applied Sciences).
- Link to the region: You or your student group are based in Pirkanmaa and are active there.
- Where you go: You are travelling abroad to undertake an internship, take part in an exchange programme, attend an international conference or take part in an AIESEC event.
- Field of study: Open to all subjects.
- Nationality: Applicants of any nationality are welcome to apply. What matters is your connection to Pirkanmaa, not your passport.
- Who can apply: Applications are open to individual students and recent graduates. Preference will be given to projects that benefit the entire student body.
How to apply
Download the application form from the Foundation’s website, complete it and submit it by email. The Board makes its decisions twice a year. For the first meeting (late January to early February), please submit your application by 31 December. For the second meeting (August to September), please submit your application by 31 July. You can apply at any time; however, if you apply outside these deadlines, you should expect a processing time of between 2 and 6 months.
If you are also exploring other ways to fund your studies or travels in Finland, you will find further options in our guide Scholarships in Finland.
