About this scholarship
Foundation for Economic Education grant
You get 27,000 EUR for 12 months of full-time doctoral research. If you are already a postdoctoral researcher (working on research after your doctorate), the full-time grant is 32,000 EUR for 12 months. You can add a separate grant for one conference trip, research visit or study trip. The working grant also covers your statutory MYEL insurance (pension insurance for self-employed grant holders in Finland). The exact amount depends on how long you work, any leave you take, and other funding you receive. The money comes from Liikesivistysrahasto, the Foundation for Economic Education in Helsinki, which funds research in business and economics that supports Finland's economic growth. In 2025 the Foundation awarded 5.4 million EUR in total.
Who can apply
- Level: You are conducting research as part of a PhD or postdoctoral programme. No funding is available for Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programmes, Master’s theses or a second PhD.
- Field: Your project relates to the field of economics and business administration. Your own degree may be in a different subject area, provided that the project is in line with the Foundation’s objectives.
- Institution: You are enrolled at or employed by a Finnish higher education institution during the funding period.
- Topic: Your research fits one of the 2026 focus areas: leadership, industrial dynamics (digitalisation, AI, competition, geopolitics, green transition), business renewal, entrepreneurship and growth, or a sustainable future.
- Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. Finnish citizenship is only required for certain special funds, such as scholarships for study or research stays abroad.
How to apply
Applications must be submitted via the Foundation’s online application system between 1 June and 15 August. The 2026 deadline is on 15 August 2026 at 24:00 (UTC+3). PhD students and early-career postdoctoral researchers must also submit a letter of recommendation from their supervising professor. Decisions will be made in November and December, and you will be notified by email.
