Travel grants of the Arvo ja Lea Ylppö Foundation

You will receive a grant to fund a research trip abroad in the field of paediatric neurology, i.e. the study of diseases and injuries of the nervous system in children. There are two types of grant. A visit grant covers the costs of a stay of between 1 week and 6 months at an international research centre specialising in this field. You may travel there to learn specific methods or to work with partners on a research project in which you are already involved. A congress travel grant covers the travel costs to a major conference at which you will present your own work. Funding is provided by the Arvo ja Lea Ylppö Foundation (Arvo ja Lea Ylppö Säätiö), a Finnish foundation that funds research into neurological disorders in children. The foundation determines the amount of funding on a case-by-case basis, depending on the purpose, destination, duration and costs of the trip.

Who can apply

• Field: You work in paediatric neurology or a closely related speciality.
• Visit grant: You have completed your PhD (you are a postdoctoral researcher) and have a specific reason for the trip.
• Congress grant: You are a young researcher and a key congress has accepted your own presentation. You attach a copy of the accepted abstract (the short summary of your talk).
• Where you go: The trip is to a research centre or a conference outside Finland. You can also use a visiting grant to invite a foreign expert to Finland.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.

How to apply

Applications should be submitted by email in the form of a free-form text. There is no application deadline, so you can apply at any time of the year. Please state the purpose of your trip, your destination, the duration and the costs. For longer stays, please enclose written consent from the organisation that will be hosting you.
