About this scholarship
Suomi kasvaa ruoasta training scholarships
You get a one-off payment. The amount depends on which of four categories you fit. For professional training you get 250, 500, 750 or 950 EUR, depending on how large the course is and how much it builds your skills. It covers course and entry fees, travel, accommodation and materials. For a thesis award after you finish your master's degree, you get 275 EUR for a top grade, 125 EUR for a good grade or 75 EUR for a passing grade. For a study trip abroad that is a required part of your degree, you get 400 EUR outside Europe, 250 EUR elsewhere in Europe, or 200 EUR in the Nordic and Baltic countries. The money comes from Agronomiliitto ry (the Finnish association of agronomists) together with three linked foundations. A separate Eino Heinonen award goes to student members living in the Latokartano student residence.
Who can apply
- Membership: You are a member of Agronomiliitto ry. Longer membership and regular payment of your fees improve your chances.
- Field of study: Your degree or studies are in the food sector.
- Professional training award: You hold a higher education degree in the food sector and already work. Employed, unemployed, farmer or self-employed all count. A separate call exists for members who teach outside universities.
- Thesis award: You have just completed a master's degree and were a student member during your studies. You can claim it once, for one degree, within one year of finishing.
- Study trip abroad: You are a student member and the trip (such as a work placement or exchange) is a compulsory part of your study plan.
- First-time applicants: If you have not had a training scholarship before (thesis awards aside), you get priority. This also applies to study-trip awards.
How to apply
You apply online through the association's grant portal. For professional training and study-trip awards, the window is 1 to 30 April each year. You can apply for thesis awards at any time, at the latest within one year of graduating.
