Arvo ja Lea Ylppö Foundation research scholarship

You will receive a research grant for full-time work in the field of paediatric neurology, that is, research into diseases and injuries of the nervous system in children. In recent years, the foundation has awarded between 55,000 EUR and 65,000 EUR annually to 8 to 12 researchers, meaning that each grant amounted to approximately 5,000 EUR to 8,000 EUR. A grant for 2027 must be used primarily in 2027 and no later than 2028. The funds come from the Arvo and Lea Ylppö Foundation (Arvo ja Lea Ylppö Säätiö), which was established by the Finnish Society for Paediatric Neurology.

Who can apply

• Who it is for: You are primarily a PhD student. Postdoctoral researchers may also apply, but will be given lower priority.
• Field: You work in paediatric neurology or a closely related speciality.
• Full time: You are working on this research project as your main occupation.
• Where you work: You may be resident in Finland or abroad.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
• Repeat limit: A single PhD project may receive this funding a maximum of 3 times.
• Supervisor: You apply yourself and attach a written statement from your supervisor.

How to apply

Applications are submitted via the Foundation’s online funding system, which can be accessed via its website. The application window opens every year in August. For the 2027 grants, it runs from 1 to 31 August 2026, with the application deadline ending at midnight on 31 August.
