About this grant / loan
Charente International Mobility Grant
You will receive a one-off payment of at least 200 EUR for a study placement or work placement abroad that forms part of your degree programme. From the second month onwards, the grant increases by 60 EUR per additional month or by 15 EUR per additional week, meaning that a longer stay results in a higher amount. Your stay can last between 2 weeks and 1 years. The funding is provided by the Charente Departmental Council in south-west France. Payment will be made in a single bank transfer once you have departed.
Who can apply
- Where you go: You are undertaking a study period or work placement abroad which forms a compulsory part of your degree programme and has been approved by your university.
- Home ties: Your family home is in the Charente département.
- Age: You are under 28.
- Financial situation: You hold a French state student grant (CROUS) at level 0bis or higher. If not, your parents' income is at most 4,000 EUR above the grant threshold, and they receive no unemployment benefit or activity bonus.
- Field of study: Any subject counts, as long as the trip is built into your course.
- Nationality: Applicants of any nationality are welcome to apply. The key requirement is that your family’s place of residence is in the Charente.
How to apply
You can apply for the grant online via the “Subventions16” portal on the Charente department’s website under the heading “Bourse – Mobilité internationale”. There is no set annual application deadline. Please submit your application at least 2 months before the start of your stay or work placement.
How realistic are your chances?
This grant is very strictly defined. Your family must live in the Charente, you must be under 28 years of age, you must meet the income thresholds, and the trip must form part of your degree programme. As a result, the number of eligible applicants is small and competition is low. If you clearly meet these conditions and apply at least two months in advance, your chances are good.
