About this scholarship
Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes scholarship for health and social-care studies
You will receive an annual grant of 1,454 to 6,335 EUR, paid in monthly instalments over 12 months. The amount depends on your family’s income: the lower your income, the higher your grant will be. It is awarded by the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in France and is tax- and contribution-free. It is intended for students facing financial difficulties whilst training for a career in the health or social care sector.
Who can apply
- Field of study: You are undertaking training in a recognised healthcare profession (e.g. nurse, midwife, care assistant, physiotherapist, paramedic, speech and language therapist) or in a social care profession (e.g. special needs teacher, social worker, childcare worker).
- Where you study: You are enrolled at an educational institution in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region that is officially recognised by the region.
- Residence: You may live in a different region. It all depends on where your school is located.
- Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
- Age: No age limit.
- Employment status: You are unemployed. Employees, paid jobseekers, apprentices and paid work experience students are not eligible to apply. A small student job is permitted.
- Financial need: According to your tax assessment, your income (or that of your parents) must be below the threshold.
How to apply
You apply for funding online via the region’s funding portal. Paper applications will not be accepted. If your course starts between 1 July and 15 September, the deadline is 31 October. If it starts later, you have two months from the start of the course. You can use a free online simulator to get an initial estimate of your funding.
How realistic are your chances?
This is not a competition for a limited number of university places. It is an income-based grant; you are therefore eligible for it if you are enrolled on one of the listed degree programmes at a recognised higher education institution in the region and your family income is below the threshold. Applications are processed in the order in which they are received, with priority given to first-year students. Apply as early as possible, as soon as your place at university has been confirmed.
