About this scholarship
What the Yang Bursaries give you
The Yang Scholarships are a privately funded scheme for students at the Conservatoire de Paris (CNSMDP), France’s national conservatoire of music and dance. Private scholarships such as this one supplement state funding and are financed by patrons, foundations or institutions. The money can be used to cover living costs such as rent, travel expenses and food, project costs such as the purchase of an instrument, travel expenses or additional training, as well as for emergencies. The Conservatoire’s Scholarship Committee determines the amount of the scholarship for each student on an individual basis; therefore, no fixed amount is published.
Who can apply
- Where you study: You are currently enrolled at the Conservatoire de Paris. Your application will not be processed unless you are currently enrolled.
- Field of study: You are studying music, including instrumental subjects, singing, composition or jazz.
- Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
- Financial need: You can demonstrate that you need the money to fund your studies or a study-related project. Your financial situation will be taken into account in the assessment.
How to apply
Applications must be submitted online via the Conservatoire’s student portal (ENT). The application deadline is 15 October. A committee at the Conservatoire will then decide who will receive funding.
How realistic are your chances?
As only students who are already enrolled at a specific higher education institution – the Conservatoire de Paris – are eligible to apply, the pool of applicants is small from the outset. If you are studying there and can demonstrate a genuine need for financial support, your prospects are quite good. The committee decides on the amount of funding on a case-by-case basis, so a clearly worded and well-reasoned application is of the utmost importance.
