About this scholarship
Kriegelstein Funds grant
You will receive a grant of study grant for one academic year (September to June) to cover your living costs whilst studying at the Conservatoire de Paris, the state conservatoire for music and dance in France. An internal committee determines the amount of the grant on a case-by-case basis, depending on your circumstances and the funds available, meaning that grants can range from a few hundred euros upwards. The Kriegelstein Fund is a private group of around 40 music lovers who provide financial support to around 10 students each year. You may combine this grant with other private and public funding, such as French CROUS grants.
Who can apply
- University: You are studying at the Conservatoire de Paris (CNSMDP).
- Study level: You are in your 4 or 5 year of study, which corresponds to a Master’s degree programme.
- Field of study: You’re studying an instrument or singing.
- Talent: You must demonstrate a high standard of artistic ability. This may also involve an audition.
- Financial need: You need the money for rent, food and study costs. The committee will assess your income and family circumstances.
- Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
- Exchange students: If you are studying at the Conservatoire as part of an exchange programme such as Erasmus+, you cannot apply here. Please contact your home university instead.
How to apply
Applications are made via the ENT student portal (Oasis) under the ‘Aides privées’ section. The application period opens in mid-July, before the start of the term. You must submit documents online showing your income, family circumstances and academic achievements. An internal committee will make the decision, and you will receive a response within approximately 72 hours of its meeting.
How realistic are your chances?
This scholarship is very limited. Only students at the Conservatoire de Paris in their 4th or 5th academic year are eligible to apply, and only around 10 students receive the scholarship each year. If you clearly meet these criteria, are working at a high artistic standard and can demonstrate a genuine financial need, your chances are good. In return, you will take part in the annual thank-you concert for the donors.
