About this award / prize
SCF Electrochemistry Group Annual Award
You will receive prize money of up to 250 EUR as well as a certificate for the best final-year project in the field of electrochemistry. The amount depends on your level of study: 150 EUR for third-year Bachelor’s students (L3), 200 EUR for first-year Master’s students (M1) and 250 EUR for Master’s students in their final year (M2). The prize is awarded by the Electrochemistry Section of the French Chemical Society (Société Chimique de France). Each year, the jury may award up to three prizes per level of study, meaning that several students may win. They will receive the award at their own university as part of a local event.
Who can apply
- Degree level: You are in the third year of your Bachelor’s degree (L3), the first year of your Master’s degree (M1) or the final year of your Master’s degree (M2).
- Where you study: You are studying at a French university or a ‘Grande École’ (a French higher education institution with strict entry requirements).
- Field of study: Her field of research is electrochemistry, regardless of the specific topic, be it basic or applied research.
- What you submit: You have written a dissertation or an internship report (rapport de stage) on a topic in the field of electrochemistry.
- Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
How to apply
Please submit your application to the Chair of the Department of Electrochemistry by 22 September. Please submit a PDF file containing your project report, a one-page summary, your CV and a personal statement. Your supervisor will send a separate letter of recommendation by email. The judging panel will meet at the end of September and announce the winners on the SCF website.
How realistic are your chances?
The award of this prize is strictly limited. You must be studying electrochemistry at a French university or a Grande École and have written a compelling final dissertation. This keeps the pool of applicants small, and the jury may award up to three prizes at each of the three stages. If your project is well-founded and clearly falls within the field of electrochemistry, your chances are good. The prize money is largely symbolic, so the real value lies in the recognition.
