University of Tours - Student Mobility Funds

Benefit

You receive a one-off grant to help cover a study exchange or a compulsory internship abroad lasting between 1 and 10 months. There is no fixed rate. A committee sets the amount for each case, based on your destination, how long you stay and what other funding you already receive, then pays it in a single sum. The money comes from the University of Tours. It is meant to top up other mobility aid such as Erasmus+, the EU exchange programme.

Eligibility

• University: You are enrolled at the University of Tours and will remain enrolled there during your time abroad.
• Study level: The placement forms part of your degree programme. To take part in an exchange programme, you must be in at least the second year of a Bachelor’s degree programme (L2) or an equivalent programme.
• Type of stay: The exchange programme or work placement forms part of your degree programme. A study period must last at least four weeks. A gap year or a ‘Césure’ does not count towards this.
• Where you go: Any country in Europe or beyond, provided you are studying at a partner university or undertaking a compulsory work placement.
• Field of study: All subjects can apply.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
• Family income: Your family's gross annual income is under 50,000 EUR on your latest tax assessment.
• No paid replacement: During your stay, you must not carry out any paid work or earn more than 800 euros per month; furthermore, you must not be taking part in a fee-paying dual degree programme.

How to apply

You should submit your application via the University’s ‘Mobility Online’ portal. The committee reviews applications twice a year, in June and December. The practical deadlines are 15 May and 15 November.

How realistic are your chances?

This fund is open exclusively to students at the University of Tours who meet a specific income threshold and are studying abroad as part of their degree; as a result, the number of eligible applicants is small. The number of scholarships is limited, which leads to fierce competition amongst those who qualify. If you clearly meet the criteria regarding income and level of study and apply for one of the two selection rounds, your prospects are good.
