About this scholarship

International Mobility Scholarship (AMI) at Lyon 3

You will receive a lump sum of 800 EUR for your period of study abroad, regardless of whether you spend a semester or a full year abroad, lasting up to 12 months. Subject to budget availability, the university may award one or more grants of 400 EUR each. The grant is awarded by the French Ministry of Higher Education and is intended for students at Jean Moulin Lyon 3 University who are studying abroad as part of an exchange programme. You can combine it with an Erasmus+ grant, the regional BRMIE grant and your CROUS student grant, so that the amounts are added together.

Who can apply

  • University: You are enrolled at Jean Moulin University in Lyon 3, and your enrolment for this year has been finalised.
  • Financial need: You will receive a CROUS grant (means-tested state study grant in France, bands 0 to 7) for the year of your stay abroad, or an annual payment under the special grant scheme.
  • Where you go: You are studying at a partner university as part of an exchange programme, whether in Europe or outside Europe.
  • Degree: You are aiming to obtain a national qualification (diplôme national) or a DUETI. A gap year (année de césure), a DU or a certificate do not count as qualifying qualifications.
  • Time limit: The total duration of your stay abroad under this funding scheme (combining study and work placements) is 10 months or less over the course of your entire degree programme.
  • Field of study: Open to all subjects.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they are studying in Lyon 3.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the student portal (Net3 > Portail Scolarité > ‘Aide à la Mobilité Internationale’). Enter your travel dates and upload your CROUS grant notification and your bank details. For the 2025–26 round, the deadline is 31 October 2025. The 2026–27 campaign is expected to begin in July 2026.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is very narrowly defined. Only students at the University of Lyon 3 who receive a CROUS scholarship and are going abroad as part of a partner exchange programme are eligible, so the pool of eligible candidates is small. The amount depends on the university’s annual budget and the number of applicants, so it is important to apply before the deadline in October. If you clearly meet the eligibility criteria, your chances are good.
