Region of Brittany - "Jeunes à l´international" Scholarship

What you get

You will receive financial support for a study period or work placement abroad that forms part of your degree programme. For an internship lasting at least 26 consecutive days, you will receive a lump sum of 500 EUR. For a study period during a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, you will receive approximately 200 EUR per month for up to 10 months. If you are already receiving a means-tested government grant, you will also receive an additional 150 EUR per month. The funding comes from the Brittany region in France, which runs this programme to enable young Bretons to study or undertake training abroad.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are enrolled at a school, college or university in the French region of Brittany.
• Level: You are undertaking a course of study ranging from upper secondary vocational education (Lycée) to a Master’s degree (Bac+5). This includes students on BTS and DUT courses, Bachelor’s and Master’s students, students in the health and social care sectors, and apprentices.
• What you do abroad: As part of your degree programme, you are going abroad for a study placement or an internship. An internship must last for at least 26 consecutive days.
• Financial need: Your household’s family quotient (an income indicator used in France that shows how much a family earns per person) is less than 30,000 EUR.
• No double funding: You will not receive any further funding for your stay abroad, as this funding cannot be combined with any other funding.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they are studying in Brittany.

How to apply

First, contact your own school, college or university in Brittany. You should then submit your application via the ‘Aides Individuelles’ online portal run by the Brittany region.

How realistic are your chances?

The eligibility criteria for this scholarship are very strict. You must be studying in Brittany, undertake a period of study abroad as part of your degree, and have a family income below the specified threshold. As a result, the pool of eligible applicants remains small and is limited to the local area. So, if you clearly meet these conditions and your degree programme meets the requirements, your chances are good.
