Individual traineeship grant for agriculture students

You will receive a lump sum of 400 EUR for a work placement or study period abroad lasting at least 28 days in a row. The placement may take place in Europe or beyond and must serve a clear educational purpose: You are going there to acquire practical skills in your field of study. The funding comes from the French Ministry of Agriculture, which finances more than 3,000 such stays abroad every year. There is no means test, so the grant does not depend on what you or your parents earn.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are enrolled at a French higher education institution specialising in agricultural sciences, veterinary medicine or landscape architecture (whether public or private).
• Your programme: You are aiming for a state-recognised engineering degree, a degree in veterinary medicine, a degree in landscape architecture, the ‘Bachelor Agro’ (a bachelor’s degree in agricultural sciences and technology) or a master’s degree in teacher training (MEEF) for the agricultural sector.
• The stay: Your work placement or study period abroad lasts for at least 28 consecutive days.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
• Financial need: No means test. The benefit is not means-tested.

How to apply

You do not apply directly to the Ministry. Your university is allocated a funding quota and selects the students who will receive this funding. You therefore apply via the person responsible for international relations at your university. The application deadline for the current round is 31 December.

How realistic are your chances?

The target group is narrowly defined: you must already be studying at a French higher education institution specialising in agriculture, veterinary medicine or landscape architecture, and be going abroad for at least 28 days. The Ministry funds over 3,000 placements each year, so there is certainly capacity available. A suitable applicant who is planning an eligible placement and contacts the International Relations Office well in advance has a good chance of success.
