Les Tricoles Foundation Scholarships

You will receive a one-off grant of 5,000 EUR for a personal environmental project linked to the Charente department in western France. Winners will also receive professional advice on developing their project. As this is a grant, your project must already be at least partially underway before you apply. The foundation is affiliated with the Fondation de France in Angoulême and supports young people with original ideas on the topics of natural resources, energy resources, climate and biodiversity.

Who can apply

• Age: On 31 December of the year in which you are applying, you will be between 16 and 30 years old.
• Residence: You agree to reside in France whilst the project is being carried out.
• Field and studies: Any subject or none. You can be an apprentice, student, employee or jobseeker.
• Your project: This is your own project, not a school or work assignment. It has its origins in the Charente or benefits the Charente.
• Theme: It is about the environment (natural and energy resources, climate, biodiversity). It draws on science and technology, arts and culture, or building social ties.
• Originality: It demonstrates creativity or innovative thinking. Projects that serve the common good are given priority.
• Not funded: Compulsory internships, or paying for studies, training or a diploma.

How to apply

To begin with, please submit a short pre-selection questionnaire by post or online by 31 March. A reading panel will select the 10 best candidates. These 10 will receive a full application form and have one month to submit it together with the required documents. A jury will then select the winners. You may apply a maximum of two times in total.

How realistic are your chances?

The criteria for this award are very strict. Your project must be environmentally focused and of a personal nature, and must have a connection to the Charente, meaning that only a few people meet the requirements and the pool of applicants is small. If you meet these conditions and have already carried out a concrete, original project, your chances are good. A clear, well-reasoned idea that serves the public good is crucial for passing the pre-selection stage.
