Cap Jeunes Individual Grant

You will receive a one-off grant of up to 1,000 EUR to carry out your own project. You will also receive free support from the department’s team, who will help you plan and carry out your project. If you are under 18 years of age, the grant is up to 500 EUR. The funding comes from the Hérault department in southern France, which supports young people who wish to get involved in their community. Your project can focus on solidarity, the environment, mobility, community events, sport or culture. Examples from previous years include a short film competition, a local distribution scheme for environmentally friendly food, a music video about a young migrant’s journey, and a documentary on school drop-out rates or cyberbullying.

Who can apply

• Age: You are between 11 and 26 years old.
• Where you live: You live in the Hérault department (southern France, near Montpellier).
• Your project: You are carrying out your project on your own, not as part of a group. It falls within one of the supported areas: solidarity, the environment, mobility, community events, sport or culture.
• Field of study: No prior training or qualifications are required. The programme is open to all young people in this age group.
• Nationality: All nationalities welcome.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is very narrowly defined. You must live in the Hérault department and have a specific project that you are leading yourself, so the pool of applicants is limited to the local area. If you meet these criteria and can describe a clear, meaningful project, your chances are good. Genuine, well-thought-out ideas are rewarded more than academic grades.
