About this scholarship
SupAgro Foundation International Excellence Grant
At the Institut Agro Montpellier in France, you can receive financial assistance towards your tuition fees. The amount is determined on a case-by-case basis depending on your circumstances, so there is no fixed rate. Between 2023 and 2024, 7 students shared 11,160 EUR, which works out at around 1,600 EUR per person. The foundation supports around ten international students each year. The funding comes from the SupAgro Foundation, which has been supporting international students at the university since 2010.
Who can apply
- Study programme: You have already been admitted to one of the two degree programmes: the engineering programme ‘Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems for the Global South’ (SAADS) or the international Master’s programme ‘Agronomy and Agricultural and Food Sciences’ (Master’s 3A).
- Where you study: You are studying at the Institut Agro Montpellier in France.
- Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
- Grades: You have an excellent academic record. A strong application is an advantage, and recommendations from partner institutions or agricultural researchers are a plus.
- Financial need: You are unable to finance your studies entirely from your own resources. This will be checked during the final selection stage.
How to apply
First, apply for admission to the SAADS engineering programme or the 3A Master’s programme. Once you have been admitted, send a letter to the University’s Department of Academic Affairs and Student Life (SEVE) explaining why you require financial support. The programme directors will make an initial shortlist based on academic performance. The university’s scholarship committee will then decide on the final allocation of scholarships after assessing each applicant’s financial situation.
How realistic are your chances?
This scholarship is very specific: you must already have been admitted to one of two specific agricultural degree programmes in Montpellier, so the pool of eligible applicants is small. As only around ten scholarships are awarded each year, competition is fierce. However, if you have a very strong academic record and can clearly demonstrate that you are unable to fund your studies yourself, your chances are good. Securing early admission puts you in the best possible position.
