Fondation de France - "Fondation de l'Oeil" Award

Benefit

You have received a one-off grant of 50,000 EUR, awarded to you and your team to enable you to continue your research. It was awarded by the Fondation de France, France’s largest philanthropic network, in recognition of original or innovative work in ophthalmology (the study of the eye) or visual science. The funding is intended to support an emerging research career rather than to reward an already established one.

Eligibility

• Who you were: One or more researchers at an early or emerging stage of their career who are working in the field of ophthalmology or the visual sciences.
• Your work: Experimental or clinical research into the causes, progression or treatment of eye diseases or visual functions, yielding original findings of high scientific or clinical quality.
• Public health impact: Your work could be applied in the field of public health in the short or medium term, for example in epidemiology, in the development of new treatment methods, or in improving patient care. This was the decisive factor in the assessment.
• Field: Ophthalmology or visual sciences only.
• Nationality: Any nationality could apply.
• Repeat applications: You can apply a maximum of 3 times in a row.

How to apply

You applied exclusively online. All applications submitted by post or email were rejected. The final application round ended on 16 April 2025 at 17:00, and the allocation notifications were received in July 2025.
