Benefit

For the three years of your studies at a French engineering or business school (‘Grande École’), you will be granted the status of a French government scholarship holder (‘Boursier du Gouvernement Français’, BCS). A “Grande École” is a selective French higher education institution. This is not a cash payment. Instead, it comprises a range of fee exemptions and benefits worth approximately 513 EUR. These include exemption from enrolment fees at French public higher education institutions, exemption from the higher tuition fees that students from non-EU countries would normally have to pay (frais différenciés), health insurance, the free issue of a visa, and the reimbursement of your Campus France processing fees. Your living costs are covered separately by the Moroccan merit-based scholarship (Bourse au mérite), which you will receive in addition. The French Embassy in Morocco, in collaboration with the Moroccan Ministry of Education (MENPS), funds 200 of these scholarships each year.

Eligibility

• Nationality: You are a Moroccan national.
• Where you study now: You are in your second year of a CPGE, the preparatory course for the entrance exams to French Grandes Écoles, either in France or in Morocco.
• Admission: You have been admitted to a French engineering or business school (‘Grande École’) for the coming year via one of the national entrance examinations (concours).
• Field: You will be studying engineering or economics at a ‘Grande École’ listed in the official ministerial decree.
• Merit scholarship: You are already the recipient of the Moroccan ‘Bourse au mérite’ awarded by the MENPS. This is a prerequisite, as the BCS is awarded in addition to this.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted via the portal at cpge.ac.ma, together with your application for the Moroccan ‘Bourse au mérite’. Applications submitted outside the official application window will not be considered. The final decision is made by a Franco-Moroccan committee; no appeal may be lodged against this decision.

How realistic are your chances?

The eligibility criteria are very strict. Only Moroccan CPGE students who are already in receipt of the merit-based scholarship and who have been admitted to a French Grande École via the national entrance examinations are eligible to apply. With 200 scholarships available per year, eligibility is restricted to this specific group. If you have secured a place through the Concours and are already receiving the merit-based scholarship (‘Bourse au mérite’), your chances are good, as overcoming these hurdles is the most difficult part.
