About this scholarship
Eole Scholarships
You will receive a grant of one-off payment of up to 1,000 EUR (500 EUR or 1,000 EUR) to undertake a period of study in the Netherlands as part of your degree programme in France. This grant may cover a study visit, a research placement or an internship. It is paid as a one-off sum for a single trip and cannot be extended. The funding comes from the ‘Réseau Franco-Néerlandais’, a Franco-Dutch academic network based at the University of Lille, which promotes exchanges of students and researchers between the two countries.
Who can apply
- Where you study: You are enrolled at a French higher education institution and would like to complete part of your studies in the Netherlands at a recognised Dutch university or ‘Hogeschool’ (university of applied sciences).
- Level: You are a Master’s student (Bac+4 or Bac+5, i.e. four or five years of higher education) or a PhD student. If you are enrolled on an accredited Master’s programme in the Netherlands, you will meet the entry requirements provided you have completed at least three years of higher education in France.
- What the trip is for: A study placement, a research placement (for example, a PhD thesis under joint supervision or a specialist seminar) or a work placement that counts towards your French course.
- Field of study: Open to all subjects.
- Nationality: Applicants of any nationality may apply, provided they are registered in France as described above.
- Other funding: If two projects are deemed to be of equal merit, the grant will be awarded to the applicant who has no other funds available for travel.
How to apply
Applications must be submitted via the network’s online form, and the documents listed in the terms and conditions must be provided. There are two rounds of applications each year, one in the spring and one in the autumn. A panel comprising lecturers and researchers assesses the quality of the individual projects and selects the best ones.
How realistic are your chances?
This grant is subject to strict conditions: you must be studying in France and travelling to the Netherlands, which means the pool of applicants remains small. The selection process is highly competitive and is based on the quality of your project, so a clear, well-reasoned plan is more important than grades alone. If you fit the profile and have no other means of funding your trip, your chances are good.
