Meyer Foundation study grant

You will receive a study grant of roughly 100 to 2,000 EUR per year, which is intended to help you cover your living and study costs during the academic year from September to June. The money can be used for rent and utility bills, food and daily expenses, as well as for your artistic equipment, such as materials, small appliances or pointe shoes for dancers. A committee determines the exact amount on a case-by-case basis, depending on your circumstances. The grant is provided by the Meyer Foundation, a private cultural sponsor that has been supporting students at the Paris Conservatoire (CNSMDP) since 1995. You may reapply during the same academic year and throughout your studies, and the grant may be renewed.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are enrolled at the Conservatoire de Paris (CNSMDP).
• Field of study: You are studying music at the conservatoire, in any of the departments offered there, such as classical music, contemporary music, jazz, historical instruments, singing, conducting or composition.
• Level: Applicants at all stages of their studies are welcome to apply.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
• Financial need: You are experiencing financial difficulties. That is the main criterion.
• Commitment: Your marks and attendance will be monitored. You are also expected to maintain contact with the donors, for example by performing at thank-you concerts.
• Exchange students: You cannot apply if you are studying at the conservatoire as part of the Erasmus+ programme or any other international exchange programme. Please contact your home university instead.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted via the Conservatoire’s online student portal (ENT) in the ‘Aides privées’ section, using your enrolment login details. The application period begins in mid-July before the start of the academic year and runs over several rounds. You must submit documents detailing your financial situation. A committee will review the applications, and you will receive a response within 72 hours of the committee’s meeting.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is aimed exclusively at students who are already enrolled at a specific higher education institution; consequently, the pool of applicants is small and limited to musicians at the conservatoire. If you are studying there and can provide clear evidence of financial need, your chances are good. You can apply in several rounds and resubmit an application throughout your studies. It is advantageous to apply early in the year, as places and funding are allocated in the order in which applications are received.
